Blues and Damsels at Arundel

mating Common Blues, Polyommatus icarus
This afternoon I revisited the butterfly meadow at Arundel and found a pair of mating Common Blues and a male Brimstone. There were 6 other males and 2 females around indicating a healthy colony. By the adjacent stream I found four damselfly species, the damaged Comma, an Orange-tip  and a ragged Peacock.
Blue-tailed Damselfly, Ischnura elegans
Beautiful Demoiselle, Calopteryx virgo
Comma, Polygonia c-album
Common Blue Damselfly, Enallagma cyathigerum
Common Blue, Polyommatus icarus
Common Blue, Polyommatus icarus
Common Vetch, Vicia sativa
female Pheasant with 2 chicks, Phasianus colchicus
I almost tripped over this pheasant with her chicks. She stayed very still, even when I backed off.
