On Thursday evening I attended SusSAR training near Burgess
Hill. We were lucky with the weather and I enjoyed the search on a common
and the atmospheric sunset. I had a real call-out at 1am this morning and those
attending were pleased to learn on reaching the rendezvous point in mid Sussex
that the missing person had been found safe and well.
Yesterday I took advantage of the first sunny afternoon this week to
do my Mill Hill butterfly transect. The Adonis Blue count was 125 compared to
100 last week, so they are still building. There were also 4 Brimstone, 5 Dingy
Skipper, 2 Large White, 15 Small Heath, 1 Speckled Wood and 3 other Whites. A
Yellowhammer sang from a tree. I tried some more high speed shots of Small
Heaths and Dingy Skippers in flight.
