Nicola and Whitecross Green Wood Reserve

Last night we celebrated our wedding anniversary with Jackie by attending a concert featuring Nicola Benedetti at Chichester Cathedral who we saw a year ago in the same venue. She played Vivaldi's Four Seasons and we had an excellent view of her, which I must say was worth seeing. She was superb, we will go again next year if she is featured in the Festival Programme.

We left for northern climes at 9:15 this morning. I had a few reserves identified as stopping places and found Whitecross Green Wood Nature Reserve near the M40 to be a splendid lunch stop. This wonderful reserve had wide rides which were full of wild flowers and grasses with mowed paths for access and a woodland walk. The rides were teaming with Ringlets and Marbled Whites, plus Meadow Browns and Large Skippers with a few Green-veined Whites. We arrived in Sheffield at 5:15.
